Happy Easter

Step 1: Undress the babies

10 mths old

I am so far behind on blogging and life in general as our family has been under the weather for the past 3 weeks. The boys came down with a GI virus on a Friday morning and by that afternoon mommy had it. Not only did it take mommy out, but daddy was blessed with it at 3:00 am. This virus was brutal. We all threw up for 12hours. The virus also brought about 12 days of diarrhea for the boys. Not only did they get diarrhea but they also developed colds and ear infections. We are now coming to the end of their antibiotic course, so let’s pray they stay well or mommy may need a psych ward. Times like this is when you wish you had a family close by just to take a baby for a few hours. On the other hand, our family is spared from all the sickness.

During those 3 weeks the boys have not made many changes. Adler has started walking and Bodhi is not far behind. Adler has also developed 2 new top teeth. We are now just getting back to eating solids as I had to pull everything in hopes to slow the diarrhea down. Some new foods we have tried are cheerios, spaghetti, vanilla pudding, chicken pot pie, macaroni and cheese, pop tarts, French toast, cinnamon toast, and turkey. So far they are big fans of all of it. I will say that Bodhi does not like green beans and Adler is funny about certain textures. We also have now learned how to spit and throw things off our tray.

Our gifts from Germany

A big thank you to Thorsten and his family for the great gift box. The boys loved opening the package and finding all the goodies. They have worn their hats numerous times as Buffalos weather seems to always be cold. They also enjoy playing with the rattles and the towels keep them warm after their bath.

Playing with Mommies Scarves

The boys got into my box of scarves. They thought they were fabulous and spent a long time figuring out what they could do with them such as hit each other with them, swing them in circles, and drag them around the house. I attempted to show them how to put them on which only lasted a couple of minutes but time enough for a quick embarrassing photo for the future.

We are now 9 months old!!

The boys turned 9 months old on February 28th which is their daddy’s birthday. Bernd is now officially 39 years old!!! One more year to the big 40. The morning of Bernd’s birthday he left for work after blowing out his candles on his cake and I went downstairs to find his birthday present. My mom and dad bought his present in NC for me and brought it up at Christmas time. Due to the long travel in the back of my dad’s truck they placed it in a garbage bag. I assumed it got put downstairs with all the Christmas items once we un-decorated. Well, the present is NO where to be found. I called my mom and no one can remember where it was placed, so I asked Bernd and he thinks he threw away that garbage bag. What a mess…so Bernd only got a description of his beer machine to brew homemade beer. Maybe the garbage man is enjoying a beer tonight. So, Happy Birthday Bernd, maybe one day you will get another beer machine.

For the boys, they continue to grow of course. They are almost walking. They cruise around everything and are now letting go. They can also go from a sitting position to a standing position without assistance. Bodhi has become our clown this month. He thinks everything is funny. Adler has decided to be more serious and thinks daddy is the only person that can fix anything. He loves to crawl around the house saying “dada, dada”. No mama yet from this little man. Bodhi on the other hand only says “mama, mama”. I am sure next week they will change their minds. The boys have now mastered a few toys such as stacking rings, playing basketball, and now Bodhi has learned to roll a ball to you. It doesn’t always go the right direction but he patiently waits until you go get it from across the room. They are also learning how to build blocks with legos. Adler can almost put them together by himself. They also can crawl up our stairs without assistances. They still only have 2 teeth but they do enough drooling to have a full set.

Both boys love to eat. They eat about anything. They both LOVE bread, I guess that’s the German gene. The boys have now decided its fun NOT to sleep through the night. I think they have ESP with one another. Bodhi is up about every hour on the hour and Adler at least once a night. Needless to say mommy and daddy are TIRED. We hope they out grow this stage quickly, otherwise tough love is around the corner.
Speaking of tough love, we instituted our first discipline on Mr. Adler. He continually tries to pull out our TV plug. After repeated redirection, I softly popped his hand and said NO. He turned around and looked at me and just laughed. This has made it WORSE. He thinks it’s hysterical to go over to the plug now. Now we have resorted to ignoring him which makes him mad so he crawls over to you to get your attention. I think we may be in trouble.

The boys’ new stats:

Adler now weighs 20.5 lbs and Bodhi 20.6 lbs, 9 to 12 month clothing and size 3 diapers.
